About USA Radical Black
“USA Radical Black – Truth to the People/Power to the People…Now!”
USA Radical Black was created by the Independent Business News Networks editor in chief Donald W.R. Allen, II to address disparities in Black and minority-ethnic leadership roles in the United States.
USA Radical Black also covers News and Information about Politics, Education, Money, Community, Religion, Race, Status and Class as it relates to us.
USA Radical Black is themed to be a “wake-up call” to people of color in the United States who have done the same thing the same way, creating insanity by electing the same party officials that have created problems over-and-over again while in the background tasking people they feel comfortable with to “solve” problems for pay and political favors.
We will explore the changing of the Black Church as it pertains to us as a people of color getting back to our roots with God, Family and Prosperity. Does a well funded Foundation or Social Service Agency have more power than GOD?
Join USA Radical Black for Truth to the People and Power to the People – if not now, when?
Why can’t Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District have representation?
Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District is a geographically small urban and suburban congressional district in eastern Minnesota. It covers eastern Hennepin County, including the entire city of Minneapolis, along with parts of Anoka and Ramsey counties. It was created in 1883 and was named the “Bloody Fifth” on account of the first election.
In 2010, the “Bloody Fifth” will be in need of a congressperson that will stand-up, take names and kick butt!
Congressman Keith Ellison is no longer The Chosen One.
Congressman Keith Ellison is the current representative for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, and moving into the last year of his second term (2010), it’s rumored that Ellison will have the fight of his political career to gain reelection.
Ellison, whose office is on the first floor of the Minneapolis Urban League, has dodged questions about his support, or lack thereof, for Black candidates running in this year’s Minneapolis City Council race.
There are also questions concerning an earmark exceeding $100,000 dollars that went to the tiny Jordan New Life Hub in north Minneapolis, while the Minneapolis Urban League, which is the flagship social service agency on the north side is in desperate need of help – from anywhere.
Ellison has ignored Ward 5 Minneapolis City Council Candidate Kenya McKnight since their hush-hush trip to Washington, D.C. for the Congressional Black Caucus, where he nominated McKnight as an Emerging Leader.
My question then would be, “If you take Ms. McKnight to Washington, D.C. and nominate her for this prestigious distinction, why not come back to Minneapolis and have a press conference and let the people in Ward 5 know? Ellison should have promoted McKnight in north Minneapolis, rather than endorsing Ward 5 incumbent Don Samuels on the pages of the Insight News. If he supports Samuels, then he should have taken him to D.C.
Some 5th CD stakeholders and Black leaders have grown weary of Ellison, his staff and his decisions. This has become particularly evident in the social networking circles. The Facebook page, “In 2010, Keith Ellison must not Win” has already garnered support of 88 of the top political minds in Minnesota from “both parties.”
On Thursday, October 1, Barb Davis White, the African-American GOP-endorsed congressional candidate in 2008, threw her hat into the ring, announcing her intentions to “help take back the fifth.” Ms. White will be a force to be reckoned with in 2010. Having pulled in 22% of the vote in 2008, with planning and money behind her this go around, 2010 could be White’s year. A lot will rest on whether or not the Minnesota GOP’s actually engages in outreach to the area’s minority-ethnic communities this time.
The “Obama” thingie:
Will President Obama sign-off on Congressman Ellison in 2010? Washington insiders and Minnesota political strategists say “it’s a tough call” basing their statements on the fact that Ellison hardly mentions Obama’s name in public. Could this be a direct order from Nancy Pelosi or the White House and if so, why?
Also rumored to be running in the 2010 congressional race are Alan Fine and Minneapolis defense attorney Lynne Torgerson.
While the residents of Minneapolis try to address MnDOT’s catastrophic failure to contract business or trained people of color to work on Minnesota’s roads and highways, Congressman Ellison has opted for Town Hall meetings with point people from MnDOT and other community members that he feels comfortable with, in the name of “community outreach and information.”
As a United States Congressperson, Ellison has unilateral authority to create emergency legislation that would bring about real change in matter involving his district. Yet he insists on carrying out these largely useless meetings, which amount to “Ellison love fests” and DFL cronyism.
The group H.I.R.E. Minnesota, which lobbies for green jobs in the state of Minnesota, has already given up for 2009. As co-chair Louis King recently remarked of a mock funeral H.I.R.E. recently held — “While the tone of the day was somber, the outcome was hopeful. MnDOT Commissioner Tom Sorel initially refused to meet with HIRE Minnesota, but because of our persistent organizing he has now scheduled a meeting with us to discuss what changes will be made within the agency to improve hiring outcomes in 2010. While this year has been full of challenges in our quest to provide opportunities in the renewable energy and infrastructure fields, we remain hopeful that we will continue to secure outcomes that benefit underrepresented communities. That hope is rooted in the knowledge that thousands of people have joined our movement over the past year.”
In 2010, citizens of the 5th should not look at political affiliations but rather ask, “Have our lives improved under the current political infrastructure? For how many election cycles will we ask the same questions and get the same answers? What has our current congressman really done for people that look like him?
In most cases the answers will be “no” – “each of them” – “nothing!”
In 2008, Congressman Ellison promised Latino constituents that he would look into immigration raids going on in their community. As usual a promise was made, but still Minneapolis’s Latino leaders complain that undocumented individuals are harassed, arrested and deported daily.
More notably is Congressman’s Ellison’s personal indiscretions documented in the Wright County Republican in stunning detail in a story titled, “Amy Alexander’s Indictment of Keith Ellison Revisited,” this story brings in to view suggestions of a man who is something other than a respectful representative.
In a 2006 article from PipeLineNews titled, “Keith Ellison, The Wahhabist Choice for Congress,” it talks about Ellison’s “balance. Is Ellison’s commitment to “balance” the root of his agreement with Nation of Islam bigot Joanne Jackson’s statement that Jews are, “the most racist white people” or his work with gang-leader Sharif Willis who murdered Minneapolis Police Officer Jerry Haaf?
Balance is really at the heart of the “Keith Mohammad X Ellison” candidacy, since the Minneapolis and national press have studiously avoided any semblance of it, refusing to tell people the honest truth about Mr. Ellison.
With all this said, when will Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District have the solid representation it needs, more importantly with the voters of the 5th see through the smoke screen and make the right choice in 2010?
The right choice is anyone other than our current representation.
