After careful planning by the Twin Cities Juneteenth committee, the City of Minneapolis has rejected the events 2009 planned location. On Monday, May 4, 2009 a meeting was held with the Minneapolis Park Police, 3rd and 4th Minneapolis Police Precincts and members of the Minneapolis Park Board to inform Juneteenth organizers that this year’s event had been rejected from the inner city location of Boom Island.
