If it’s Black (African American)…Stay Back! A Clear Message sent by the RNC and Minnesota GOP

This commentary represents the views and opinions of one man working with a local Republican Candidate that has the best chance of delivering Minnesota’s 5th Congressional to the Conservative Voice and Thoughts of the Republican Party…why don’t they like it?

The story begins to unfold…Even with all the great parties and political events happening this week in the Twin Cities, there’s still something missing…People of color.

After attending several RNC “mixers”, I was asked a variety of questions like, “Are you the driver?”Can you call me a cab?” “Where’s the men’s bathroom and can you do my shoes?” And the one I like the best, “What brings you out during the RNC?” For the most part I laughed it off but became very angry because after I looked around the room the only Black, Hispanic, Asian and Somali people that were at these prestigious events where the people who served the drinks, cleared the tables and bounced at the front doors. It is becoming more apparent that the RNC, GOP does not want new faces on the scene, nor do they want an “Obama skinned” presence at any of these events. The Republican Party is not the Party of Abraham Lincoln or the Party that Martin Luther King, Jr. was part of. This group of down-talking Neanderthals have become an institution unto themselves and don’t care if Black people or people of Color are actively involved in the political (Republican) movement. I understand that the Republicans have written off people of Color due to the Obama Syndrome, but without an accurate message to counter that attack or an effort to present factual data about Obama, his district and what he “has not” done due to lack of experience and the situation of the area he represents in Illinois, people of Color have no information to ride with the Republican Party locally or nationally. (Watch the video of Obama’s District at http://ibnn.org/?p=47)

The mainstream media in the Twin Cities for the RNC is summing it up when interviewing Republicans of color…”WHY?” The GOP in each one of the Congressional Districts where you have African Americans running as been less that supportive to the cause of the Republican Party as it pertains to “change”.

Furthermore, on Tuesday at Minneapolis Television Network history was made when the 4 out of the 5 African American Congressional Candidates held a one hour long Forum hosted by CJ Jordan of the National Black Republican Leadership Council. A organization that could be the deciding factor in building the bridge to the Congressional Candidates and Senator McCain’s office. The only problem was local media, WCCO, KARE, KSTP, KMSP, Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press and other “mainstream” media outlets didn’t bother to attend or cover the event. Most of the “media alerts” sent out regarding this event came back “deleted without being read”, thank you Hubbard Broadcasting, WCCO, Fox 9, KARE 11, Twin Cities Biz Journal and others who consistently with their actions say, “If its’ Black – Stay Back!”

Again, local mainstream media…tonight (Wednesday, September 3, 2008) at Trocaderos Restaurant and Nightclub the African American Congressional Candidates will be having a “Meet the Candidates” event from 6pm to 12mid. This is an opportunity to engage the true part of the Republican Party. This event is free and open to the public…will you show?

On the local front after meeting (again) Senator Norm Coleman at the Republican Lawyers Reception, the agency I work for developed a concept for a commercial that would appeal to people of color and veterans. I had given Senator Coleman my card to call me and follow up – at this point and probably never, no returned calls. Fact #1, Senator Norm Coleman will not win against Al Franken unless he engages the population of Color of the Twin Cities. The MN GOP needs these people!

In a statement I would like to make to the RNC and MN. GOP, you will not build capacity without attracting people of color. Just because Obama is running for president does not give you the right to categorically “write off” people of color or an area that has had a strong Democratic hold. It is because of your lack-luster “positioned” attitude and failure to act that these areas will not be affected by a Republican.

In 2006 the Minnesota DFL, as listed on Federal Election Commission (FEC) Report, page 1 for Keith Maurice Ellison under “Committees Who Gave to this Candidate” and Independent Expenditure on Behalf of the Candidate, from October 10, 2006 to September 7, 2006 the DFL put a total of $46,194.00 towards Keith Maurice Ellison’s campaign.

I asked MN GOP, “how come you are not assisting the local Republican candidates like the DFL supports their candidates?” I got a variety of answers but the silliest one was that, “We can’t now because you know about it”. I’m still processing that one!

Needless to say, a formal house cleaning needs to happen within the Minnesota GOP and the Republican Party locally and nationally and after yesterday, I’m convinced that the cleaning starts with the assistance of the Campaign for Liberty.

Remember, Liberty doesn’t have a color…it has soul!

RNC asked about African American Congressional Candidates that are scheduled to speak at the RNC

O SAY..CAN YOU SEE?

The following email was sent to the RNC today…

It concerns me as Barb Davis White’s Press Secretary and also as a General Manager for a News & Information Corporate Media Outlet that you have not scheduled, nor will confirm that any African American Congressional Candidates have been asked to speak at the RNC, according to the young lady that answers the phone at your office and you. After speaking with you (Ms. Webb), the answer that the information is “confidential” does not work. We already know that Barb Davis White, 5th CD Minnesota and Antoine Members 1st CD Chicago have not been contacted…who does that leave?

On Friday, August 15, 2008 I was approached by a gentleman who told me to “cool down”, don’t go after Ron Carey’s office or the RNC and we will get together later and work things out after the RNC. He went on to threaten Barb’s campaign by saying, “If you don’t, Barb is finished!” The RNC has given money to some local “point people” in the Twin Cities to have party events neglecting the most valued and important thing to attract voter’s of color to the Republican Party…”community engagement and outreach”. No one from Minnesota’s non-profit agencies have been contacted by the GOP/RNC to teach the community about the Constitution of the United States or even to register voters. Remember…Liberty does not have a color, it has soul!

This “slave mentality thinking” i.e.; “Be good you Black Republican’s while our White friends are in town” does not fly with me or the tools I have in place to distribute this message “top-of-mind” to the general public and national news affiliates.

Keith Ellison is not worried and rest assured that the Minnesota GOP will put no effort into an African American Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota with the current leadership of the GOP.

Again, and for the last time – I will ask, what African American Congressional Candidates have been scheduled to speak at the RNC? What do we really have to loose, besides Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District?

Good day!
